ACTION
Metamizole is a pyrazolonic derivative belonging to the group of non-narcotic analgesics. It has an analgesic, antipyretic, anti-inflammatory and spasmolytic action. Effects of metamizole are results of the central and the peripheral action of the drug. The central action is a result of its depression of the pain sensation in the central nervous system and also by inhibition of the brain cyclooxygenase. In the periphery, metamizole inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandins which stimulate the nociceptors and induce pain.
INDICATIONS
Acute severe posttraumatic and postoperative; abdominal pain in a form of colic (spasms); pain in malignant diseases; febrile conditions, especially unresponsive to other measures. Analgin relieves pain and reduces fever.
